January 27, 2006 - Billion Dollar Films Creates Live Surround Sound System for Rave Review.

Working with sound designer Teo Graca, Billion Dollar Films brokers the sale of a new surround sound system design for Rave Review.

Just before the Billion Dollar Films released "The Fisher Prince - Wake Up Your Destiny" in Europe, Rave Review was looking for a unique way to feature multiple DJ's in multiple rooms. After a conference call with sound designer Teo Graca, Walt Disney's popular interior boat cruise "It's a Small World" came up in the conversation, and Teo described how you can move from one room to another and hear syncrhonized, but different tracks of the same recording. This ended up with a request for a sound system design Rave Review so they could feature and record multiple DJ's in different rooms and still have them all running in synch.

"I have designed studios and PA systems for live bands before, but nothing quite like this. We ended up recommending 24-track hard disc recorder, the Alesis ADAT HD24, with dual hot swappable drives and a seperate mono system per room. The DJ's would be in different rooms, but could hear each other and synched their beats and music to the mixes." says Teo Graca. The system provides a different mix in each room with a transition effect as listeners move from room to room.

The idea has since only been adopted by a few clubs in Europe and may eventually make its way back to America in large clubs at some point. Teo designed a smaller version of the system for himself and currently hosts Acid Jazz events in his home town of Arlington, Virginia on weekends.
